Beetles - Creating patchwork style logo |
This tutorial will show you how to create an embroidery or patchwork style logo. We'll simulate effect of cloth pattern with stitching effect on the edges. Start by creating a simple beetle shape using pen tool. |

| Once you complete one basic segment of your design press Ctrl + Enter to create a selection out of your design. Fill it with red color in a new layer. |

| In this step we'll create a cloth pattern effect on this shape. Double click this layer to open layer style window. Enable pattern overlay and use any cloth or denim pattern. Adjust settings as shown. |

| Also enable color overlay. Use red color and change blend mode as shown. |
|
Changing your blend mode will show the cloth pattern through red color. |

| Draw more path drawings with pen tool to add more details to the beetle. |

Similarly add layer style to these drawings and play with blend modes to achieve a nice effect. |

Our beetle is almost done. |

| Now we'll add stitches to the edges of beetle's round body. We'll use text tool to do so. |

| For time being hide the layer containing body of the beetle. In path window select path of the body. |

| With text tool click on this path and type "I" multiple times. This will create stitches surrounding body of the beetle. You can also adjust kerning settings in the text window to get a fine distance between characters. |

| Similarly type multiple "I"s on the next portion of the body path. |

| Add company name with punch line etc. to complete the logo. |
